Lighting Solutions for Every Workspace
Date: February 22, 2022
The static hum of fluorescent lighting isn’t just annoying, it’s bad for productivity! A study conducted by the American Society of Interior Design found that over 60 percent of employees are dissatisfied with the lighting solutions in their office. That is no surprise when we can all feel the impact of poor lighting: eye strain, headaches, loss of focus, and fatigue. Nailing lighting can be tricky though. Not every office space has great natural lighting to keep employee morale up. When natural lighting isn’t going to cut it you need to have appropriate lighting that is bright without being harsh. These are our top lighting picks for offices.
Lighting for Large Spaces
Lighting for large rooms is tricky to get just right. We want a design-forward option that also does a good job of illuminating the space. We love these BuzziJet lights for two reasons: the LED lighting is bright without being harsh, and the shades perform double duty as an acoustical solution. We all know that sound management in large rooms is extremely important, and these shades help both to bounce light and reduce background noise.
Conference Room Lighting
Conference room lighting is important to get just right. You need the space to be properly lit with diffused bright light to keep up a positive mood and high productivity. We like the Bola Disc LED lighting system for conference rooms. These lights provide the scale suited to most conference rooms with a diffused light that is reflected through the unique chromated disk above. We especially like that the lights can be suspended individually, in series, or in chandelier groupings for maximum wow-factor.
Control the Lighting in Any Room
There’s nothing quite like the sun getting right in your eyes while you’re in an important meeting. An often overlooked aspect of lighting in an office setting is shading the sun! Big windows with a great view are a luxury, but sometimes those awesome views come with overly bright lighting at certain times of the day. Insolroll Window Shading systems have many different options depending on your needs. Blackout shades can be helpful in conference rooms that are often used for visual presentations. For rooms that only get indirect sun exposure, Roller Shades can provide inobtrusive sun management.
Desk Lighting
Overhead lighting for your employees may be adequate but most people prefer the ability to choose their level of lighting with desk lamps. Individual desk lamps not only give employees a feeling of ownership over their space but also provide for a more comfortable work experience. Some of our favorite desk lamps perform multiple jobs like the Circa lamp (pictured above) with integrated power, the Lana lamp with full-range dimming, and light level memory, or the UMA lamp that doubles as a bluetooth speaker.
