2021 Year In Review

This year we settled into the groove of working from home, working in hybrid environments, or just working wherever we’ve had Wi-Fi. In 2021 we added a new team member and worked on so many exciting projects with our clients around Louisiana.

New Projects

This year we’re happy to have completed work on several projects including the new Jani King Headquarters and City Square 162 Apartment lobby.

The Jani King headquarters project allowed us to help create a beautiful and sleek appearance. The executive conference room, pictured above makes great use of Global Luray Chairs and a custom conference table from Surfacetech.

For City Square we collaborated with HRI and McCormack Baron Salazar to create a welcoming and comfortable lobby and offices. We utilized the following products from Haworth in this modern building: Very Desk Chair, Resonate Lounge Side Chair, and Resonate Modular Lounge Seating.

Giving Back

We always like to give back to our community whenever we can. This year one of our favorite projects to work on was with Ozanam Inn’s new home on Poydras Street. This project allowed us to help an organization that offers aid and comfort to those in need in our community by providing basic human needs such as; food, shelter, and clothing. We donated two desks to the new building. We also worked with Ozanam Inn to provide tables like Haworth Very Chairs and Jive Training Tables that nest and help create adaptive spaces. The sleeping quarters' beds, mattresses, and wardrobe are the Laguna Collection with Ecologic Furniture; Laguna is sleek, simple while being durable and environmentally conscious. They ordered around 156 beds and 31 wardrobes for the residents of Ozanam Inn. Also, for the exterior, a sea of benches and window film for the exterior windows for privacy.

We’re so glad to have welcomed Lauren Sperier to our Sales and Account Development team in January of 2021. This year Lauren has been a huge asset in supporting the needs of new and existing clients. Lauren says “I’m fortunate to work with a talented and close-knit team of technical designers and business developers as we help commercial clients create productive workspaces for their employees.”

2021 Favorite Trends

This year has shown us many changes to the commercial interiors industry! We covered all of our favorite trends from NeoCon, but these were our particular favorites from 2021.

Architectural Interiors

Freestanding architectural interior pieces like the Pergola by Haworth help to give open concept offices the ability to create new spaces without needing to renovate. “Pergola is one of the most exciting new products from Haworth right now,” said Kris Van Dierendonck, our Principal and owner. “It gives employees a brand new space in the office they already know. Pergola can be used as a break room, a small conference room, or even as an office - there are so many different uses for this interesting architectural piece.”

Extra Comfortable Seating

We all got used to working in our pajamas from the couch this year, so it’s no surprise that the comforts of home started making their way to the office this year. Comfortable seating makes people feel at-ease at the office, in reception rooms, or at hotels.

“I particularly like the Back Wing and Lud’o chairs.” said Interior Designer and Business Developer Marcia Gavin. “Both are extremely comfortable, and they are still very design focused. Lud’o has the look of a chair you’d have in your own living room - it’s inviting and cozy. The Back Wing chair has a more modern aesthetic, but with an equally comfortable experience.”

Natural Colors and Textures

Natural colors and textures are immediately calming, something that all of us needed after the last few years! Bringing in natural textures and colors is easily done with a beautiful rug. “Gan rugs are always on the forefront of design trends, so we’re excited to see that they’re embracing warm and natural tones as much as we are,” said Sales and Interior Design Consultant, Lauren Sperier.
