How To Work, Live, and Play Healthier This New Year
Date: December 12, 2022
Do your New Year's resolutions include focusing on improving your health? So many of us want to have a healthier new year but it’s not always easy. At KV Workspace, our mission is to deliver solutions to our clients that meet their unique goals and support the productivity, happiness, and well-being of the people that work, live, and play in our environments every day. Making these environments healthier can make a huge difference in the lives of your customers and staff! Here’s what we want to see more of in 2023.
Work Healthy
If there is one thing we can do to help make your office a healthier workspace - it would be upgrading the ergonomic support for employees. A proper desk chair can help to prevent workplace injuries including back, neck, and arm pain. But not all ergonomic updates need to be big changes - little ergonomic updates like adding monitor stands can make a huge difference for your employees health.
Giving employees the option to stand as they work is also a huge health benefit. We all know that sitting all day every day isn’t the best for us. The Planes Height Adjustable Table is easy for employees to switch from sitting to standing. With complete control over the height of their workspace, these tables work well for employees of all heights. Pair it with a Zody LX ergonomic desk chair, pictured below, and you’ll have created a workspace that fully supports your employee’s ergonomic needs.
Live Healthy
In 2023 we want to spend more time in the spaces where life happens! Our hospitality and entertainment places are so important to living a well rounded life both in and out of work. There are many different ways that these spaces can become healthier for us to use. First we can prioritize air quality! COVID-19 isn’t the only virus that easily spreads through the air. Keeping air quality high helps to promote a healthier environment for everyone. There are many different air purifying systems that can be used from personal desk-sized Clean Zonez products, to whole HVAC purification systems.
It’s also important to consider the acoustics of your space. For example, noisy restaurants lead to poor experiences for diners (which can lead to poor reviews!). Zagat and Consumer Reports found that noise complaints were the number one issue customers had with restaurants. Acoustical panels don’t need to be an eye sore - instead we can use screen printing to make custom art pieces that reinforce the aesthetic of the space.
Play Healthy
It’s all too easy to overlook social spaces like break rooms, lunch rooms, and even the lobby. Prioritizing the offices and desks where work is completed makes sense, but for total wellness at work we can’t forget social spaces! This year we’ve seen many exciting trends for these social spaces.
We particularly like the Haworth Pergola Workspaces. This freestanding architectural structure can be used in many different ways. It functions well as a way to divide large open concept spaces and can be a stand-out break room or conference room. Pergola also gives a great outline for the design aspects that make a social space really feel fun - you can add color, plants, and social seating to make it special for your employees.
Comfortable seating also helps employees to feel at ease in the office. This year, Patricia Urquiola designed the Cardigan Chair with comfort and collaboration in mind. The chair is not only super comfortable with a stretchy back and soft cushion, it also supports eco-friendly design practices. Unlike traditional upholstery, digital knitting reduces wasted product by making pieces in the exact dimensions needed, plus the base is made of 100% recycled PET.
One thing we want to see more of in 2023 is taking social spaces outside! From offices, to hotels, to apartment complexes and more, having an outdoor recreation space is key to living a healthier lifestyle. Working and relaxing outside is great for our physical and mental health. It can help you boost creativity, lower stress, and improve memory. We love the unique outdoor seating made by Janus Et Cie. The Gigi chairs, pictured above, invites you to settle in and looks elegant while still being completely weatherproof.
